Interdisciplinary Journey
About Me
Hi, my name is Hamzah. I'm a graduate student at Hunter College with interdisciplinary training that bridges sociology, public policy, statistics, and applied data science. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with minors in Public Policy and Statistics, and a Master of Science in Applied Digital Sociology.
Sociology: The Critical Lens
My academic interest in sociology stems from a deep concern for social issues and a commitment to understanding them through systematic, theory-informed analysis. Sociology provides a critical lens through which social structures, power relations, and institutional dynamics can be examined, allowing complex social problems to be contextualized rather than treated in isolation.
Public Policy: From Problems to Solutions
My training in public policy complements this sociological foundation by emphasizing how social problems are translated into collective decision making. Through public policy, I have developed an understanding of how public opinion, institutional constraints, and political processes interact in the formulation and implementation of policy responses.
Statistics & Methods
Statistics plays a central role in my academic and professional orientation. In an era characterized by an abundance of data, statistical literacy is essential for transforming raw information into meaningful insight. My training in statistics has equipped me with the tools to analyze complex datasets, assess uncertainty, and draw rigorously supported conclusions.
Applied Digital Sociology
Through my graduate work in Applied Digital Sociology, I integrated sociological theory, policy awareness, and quantitative methodology to study social phenomena at scale. My growing interest in data science developed through advanced statistics coursework, where I gained experience in coding, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
